FINOMETER®
Types F-4 and F-41

F4 MOTOR DRIVEN DIGITAL TEXTURE
MEASURING INSTRUMENT

F41 OPTIONALLY
CONNECTED TO A COMPUTER

TECHNICAL DATA OF
Based on our company’s previous experience and tests conducted to determine textural characteristics of fruits and vegetables, on the basis of F-2 Finometer that has been further developed, and based

on a number of experimental works the company has constructed the destructive testers with digital display, operated by an electronic measurement sensor equipped with a load cell.

Previous researches
aimed to maintain objective measuring conditions have made fixed duration of destruction feasible in the design process, and the period of time determined is equal to 6 seconds.

Fixing the duration of destruction
and the materials used for the construction of the devices collectively ensure that, compared to the F-2 type instrument, F-4 and F-41 type instruments, eliminating human factors, perform better with respect to accuracy and reliability.

The instrument
basically has a robust construction, is portable and functions reliably both on arable lands and under operating or laboratory conditions.

The F-41 type Finometer can be controlled by a computer, and measurement data can be stored on the computer used for control by means of the software that belongs to the instrument.

Measurement results
can also be displayed by both Tenderometer and Finometer units, and the instrument will calculate and display the average of the measurements according to the preset number of measurements (series).

The unit holding the sample
(including a cup, a perforated lid and a retaining ring) is made of stainless steel therefore it is resistant to all materials to be measured. The cleaning necessary after daily use is easy and this process does not require any special skills.

In order to ensure accuracy of measurements, the stainless steel spikes mounted in the measuring head limit the depth of the penetration of destructive spikes mounted in the measuring head by means of microswitches; this shall be used to ensure that the compressed sample does not affect the value of the shearing force/resistance.

Destruction
is performed by a head made of stainless steel and containing 19 spikes. Destructive force is sensed by a load cell whose maximum load carrying capacity is 300 kg and is equipped with 50 percent mechanical protection.

K+F Konzervkutató és Fejlesztő Mérnökiroda Kft certifies that F-4 and F-41-type texture testing devices developed by the company comply with all essential requirements which are currently in force

in Hungary and the European Union for Safety Regulations, Fire Protection Regulations, Electrical Regulations and Environmental Regulations.

The instrument
operates on 12 V direct current either through the power supply unit (230V AC/12 V DC) affixed to the instrument or the cigar lighter of the vehicle.

Guarantee conditions
The manufacturer provides a 12-month guarantee on the instrument from the date of receipt, and this guarantee can be activated in the calibration laboratory of K+F Konzervkutató Kft.

Both F-4 and F-41 instruments require minimal maintenance therefore, under normal conditions of use, it is sufficient to carry on inspections, calibrations or technical supervisions of these instruments every 2 to 3 years.

We perform calibrations and technical supervisions by using own-produced special tools and devices that can be traced back to the national etalon. We submit our tools and devices to the metrological authority for calibration and verification every two years. After calibration we seal each device and issue a calibration certificate.

References
In recent decades our instruments spread abroad into many countries in addition to Hungary, and the most important foreign users include

Russian Federation, Poland, Ukraine, France, the Slovak Republic, Romania, Serbia and the United Kingdom.
